INTERDISCIPLINARY MULTILINGUAL DICTIONARY REGULATIONS OF USE
§ 1 [General Provisions]
These regulations lay down the terms and conditions of use of the Interdisciplinary Multilingual Dictionary (hereinafter: “Dictionary”) published on the website: imd.pk.edu.pl, in particular the rules of using intellectual property rights to the content of the Dictionary.
The administrator of the Dictionary and the entity in charge of its distribution is Politechnika Krakowska im. Tadeusza Kościuszki [Cracow University of Technology] seated at ul. Warszawska 24, 31-155 Kraków, Poland, e-mail: a-7@pk.edu.pl (hereinafter the “University of Technology”). The University of Technology is an academic institution and does not distribute the Dictionary within business activity.
§ 2 [Basic Terms and Conditions of Dictionary Use]
The Dictionary may be used by individuals of any country of origin.
The Dictionary is available for use free of charge.
To ensure seamless use of the Dictionary, the user needs:
Internet access,
an Internet browser with JavaScript and cookies enabled.
The use of the Dictionary in a manner incompliant with these Regulations is prohibited and may result in user’s legal liability.
Access to the Dictionary requires user registration referred to in § 3 hereof.
The University of Technology is, to the broadest extent permitted by law, exempted from liability for any disturbances, including interruptions, in the operation of the Dictionary caused by force majeure, unauthorised activity by any third person or persons or any incompatibility of the Dictionary with the technical infrastructure of the persons using or attempting to use the Dictionary.
§ 3 [User Registration]
To use the Dictionary (browse the Dictionary content) it is necessary to register an account.
To register an account, the user must complete the registration form available at www.imd.pk.edu.pl
Effective user registration requires the provision of the following true data: first and last name, e-mail, login and password and the approval of the Regulations. The registration process is completed once the user clicks the link sent to the e-mail address provided by the user. If the data provided during the registration process is false or the registered user violates the regulations or standards of good conduct, the University of Technology may remove such user’s account and refuse him or her any subsequent registration.
§ 4 [Intellectual Property]
The user accepts the fact that the Dictionary is protected as a work in the meaning of the Act on copyright and related rights (Polish Journal of Laws 2006.90.631 as amended) and as a data base in the meaning of the Act on the protection of data bases (Polish Journal of Laws 2001.128.1402 as amended).
The User has the right to:
Browse the Dictionary content available at: imd.pl.edu.pl
Print entries specified by the University of Technology,
Present the Dictionary for academic or didactic purposes,
Copy Dictionary fragments for user’s own private use not related to professional or business activity (such use should not exceed 50 entries).
It is prohibited to copy more than 50 entries or to use the Dictionary for commercial purposes. Commercial use means any form of obtaining revenue related to the distribution or use of the Dictionary, in particular:
Using Dictionary or its part in professional or business activity,
Sale or lease of the Dictionary or its part,
Publishing the Dictionary or its part on a website containing advertisements
Users are obliged to respect the personal rights of the Dictionary’s authors. Any modification of the Dictionary is prohibited, unless it takes place in compliance with these Regulations.
When quoting a fragment of the Dictionary, the user should provide the following reference:
“excerpted from the Interdisciplinary Multilingual Dictionary edited by Monika Bogdanowska and Adreas Komodziński”.
§ 5 [Privacy Policy, Personal Data]
User’s registration requires the provision of the following personal data: first and last name and e-mail address.
The privacy of users is of special concern to the University of Technology. In compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act of 29 August 1997 (consolidated text: Journal of Laws 2002.101.926 as amended), the University of Technology carefully selects and applies adequate technical and organisational measures to ensure the correct protection of the processed data. In particular, the University of Technology secures the data against their disclosure to unauthorised persons and against their processing in violation of effective laws. The University of Technology exercises permanent control of the data processing process.
The controller of the personal data provided by the users is the University of Technology.
The University of Technology processes the personal data provided by the users in the scope necessary to provide them with access to the functionalities of the Dictionary described in these regulations.
User’s data may be disclosed to the entities authorised by law to receive such data, including competent judiciary and law enforcement authorities, and to the entities cooperating with the University of Technology.
The University of Technology does not store users’ sensitive data.
A user has the right to:
amend, supplement and update their personal data;
request their personal data to be deleted;
submit an objection with respect to the processing of their personal data (as a result of which access to the Dictionary will be automatically disabled).
The University of Technology uses the information on IP addresses recorded during Internet connections for technical purposes related to Dictionary administration. Furthermore, IP addresses are used to collect general statistical information.
The University of Technology uses cookies to enable correct operation of the Dictionary. Additionally, the information gathered with the use of cookies enables the adjustment of service and content to users’ individual needs and preferences. Furthermore, cookies allow for generating general statistics concerning the Dictionary use. If the option to store cookies is disabled in browser settings, the Dictionary cannot be accessed.
§ 6 [Disclaimers]
The use of services provided electronically via the Internet involves risks. The basic risk is the possibility of infecting one’s IT system with malware, including so-called viruses, bugs and Trojan horses. To avoid such risks it is recommended that Dictionary users install and continuously update antivirus software on their computers.
§ 7 [Complaint-handling Procedure]
To submit a complaint related to the Dictionary operation, the user needs to send a complaint to: a-7@pk.edu.pl or mimero@interia.pl specifying:
Particulars of the person submitting the complaint (first and last name, login),
Succinct description of the problems,
Suggested manner of removing notified violations.
A complaint will be examined by the University of Technology in the period of 21 days from the date of receipt, specifying the position of the University of Technology with respect to the notified problems.
§ 8 [Final Provisions]
Unless commonly binding laws provide otherwise, these regulations and the use of the Dictionary are governed by Polish law.
Unless commonly binding laws provide otherwise, any potential disputes arising from any breach hereof shall be settled by a court competent for the University of Technology.
The University of Technology reserves the right to discontinue the provision of access to the Dictionary without any reason.
Invalidity or ineffectiveness of any part hereof is without prejudice to the validity and effectiveness of the entire regulations. An invalid provision hereof shall be interpreted in a way that makes its meaning compliant with the law.
